Train at the nation's premier all-hazards training center! FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), located in Anniston, Alabama, is the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS)'s only federally chartered Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training center.
The CDP began operations in June 1998 as the only all-hazards training center, offering training on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) weapons. While the training tempo has increased dramatically, the CDP’s training programs provide the very best in advanced hands-on training for America's emergency responders. On March 31, 2007, the Noble Training Facility (NTF) was transferred from the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) to the CDP. NTF is the only hospital facility in the United States dedicated to training hospital and healthcare professionals in disaster preparedness and response.
If you are a state, local, or tribal government emergency responder, this training is completely funded by DHS at no cost to you or your jurisdiction. We fly you into Atlanta airport, pick you up, transport you to the CDP, and provide all meals and lodging. For federal, civilian and international requests, please contact us.
Integrated Capstone Events (ICE)
The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) conducted an Integrated Capstone Event (ICE) in June 2011 that combined the talents of a multi-discipline response force reacting to a scenario driven, CBRNE/all hazards, incident incorporating mass casualties. The objective of the event was to integrate a number of classes and use the skills and techniques previously learned during the weeks training and challenge the student to react, with confidence, to a fast paced stressful situation. The results of the event, voiced by the students during the After Action Review (AAR), convinced the CDP leadership to incorporate ICE events into all future training calendars. These ICE events are designed to give the student an opportunity to practice response actions with immediate feedback resulting in a better trained response force for the community. Any course on the training calendar with the ICE acronym will be a participant in this collective training program.
