| Course Description |
The 24-hour HERT for MCI course is designed to provide medical operation guidance to hospitals, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), healthcare facility personnel, and others who may become involved in an MCI as a result of a natural, accidental, or intentional event. The course assists the healthcare responder in understanding the relationship between a Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), a scene Incident Command System (ICS), and other IMS used by municipal Emergency Operations Centers (EOC) during all manners of emergencies; addresses PPE requirements; and presents guidance for HERT design, development, and training. This course helps prepare facilities and agencies to conduct a safe and effective emergency medical response to MCI. This is a hands-on course, and participants must be physically and psychologically fit to wear PPE during the training. HERT MCI culminates with the application of this training in small- and large-group, facilitated practical exercises. |

Have successfully completed IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700 or IS-700.a. It is recommended to have successfully completed CBRNE or HAZMAT training at the operations level as specified in 29 CFR 1910.120(g)(6)(ii), at a minimum. |
