Isolate the Hazard Area. Implement the appropriate protective actions based on the information acquired through the analysis of the incident. The protective actions are designed to protect yourself and others from the effects of the hazard.

Initiate the Notification Process. Notify the appropriate authority so that an effective response to the hazardous material or weapon of mass destruction may be initiated as quickly as possible. This generally involves notification of the fire or police department but in a fixed facility may require initiation of notification procedures defined in the facility emergency response plan.
