Domestic Shipping Placards

Within 42 C.F.R. Part 172, Subpart F placarding requirements are detailed. These placarding requirements assist responders in the event of an incident involving hazardous materials. Shipping placards are the same as the placards depicting the hazard classes and divisions. They must be as described in the C.F.R. for consistency purposes.

For a placard corresponding to the primary or subsidiary hazard class of a material, the hazard class or division number must be displayed in the lower corner of the placard.
