Domestic Shipping Markings

Domestic shipping markings provide pictorial descriptions of how a hazardous material should be handled while being transported. The following are examples of DOT markings:

  • Package Orientation (arrows)
  • Keep Away From Heat
  • Overpack
  • Fumigant Markings
  • Inhalation Hazard
  • Hot Material (with area in center of placard for the UN identification number)
  • Marine Pollutant
  • Excepted Quantity
