Shipping Paper Requirements

The purpose of shipping papers is to identify the contents of the shipment. 49 C.F.R. Part 172 Subpart C requires shipping papers be provided for any transportation containing hazardous material as described in Table 1 of 49 C.F.R. ยง 172.101. The shipping papers are provided by the person shipping the material. The shipping papers can be very beneficial to responders if the shipment is involved in an accident.
