Class 1: Explosives

Class 1 explosives are defined as any substance or article, including a device, which is designed to function by explosion. This class is separated into six divisions.

In addition to a hazard class number and a division number, explosives are sometimes further divided into compatibility categories represented with a letter designation that shippers use to load explosive properly, i.e. Fireworks are usually listed as HC/Div 1.4G.
