Division 2.2: Non-Flammable/Non-Poisonous Compressed Gases

This division includes gases which exert, in the packaging, a gauge pressure of 41 psi or greater at 68 °F. Characteristics of these gases include:

  • Non-flammable
  • Non-poisonous (compressed)
  • Liquefied
  • Pressurized cryogenic
  • Compressed (in solution)
  • Asphyxiant
  • Oxidizing

A cryogenic liquid is a liquified gas with a boiling point less than -130°F at 14.7 psi. Examples include liquid oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and hydrogen.
