Organic peroxides are comprised of organic (carbon containing) compounds that contain Oxygen (O) in the bivalent (-O-O-) structure.
In a pure or high concentration form, organic peroxides are strong oxidizers and can be extremely unstable. They may react explosively due to shock, friction, heat, and pressure.
Examples include dibenzoyl peroxide, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, and peroxyacetic acid.
