Division 6.1: Toxic Substances

Toxic substances consist of materials other than gases that:

  • Are either known to be, or presumed to be toxic to humans
  • Afford a health hazard during transportation
  • In the absence of adequate data on human toxicity are presumed to be toxic to humans
  • Include materials that cause irritation

Examples include aniline, arsenic compounds, carbon tetrachloride, hydrocyanic acid, and potassium cyanide.
