Industrial Facilities

Industrial facilities and districts can be located near, or in, any jurisdiction or municipality where people reside and operate. The residents and leaders of any jurisdiction or municipality must be familiar with the hazardous materials and dangerous goods that are manufactured, transported, or stored in their jurisdictions. The following are examples of facilities that may possess hazardous materials:

  • Municipal industrial complexes and facilities
  • Non-consumable good manufacturing facilities including:
    • Tire manufacturing
    • Vehicle battery manufacturing
    • Cleaning chemicals manufacturing
    • Petroleum refining
    • Wood curing chemicals manufacturing
  • Transportation (highway, rail, air, sea)
  • Farming cooperatives (commonly called “farmer’s co-ops”), which manufacture, transport, and store fertilizers listed in the Hazardous Materials Table. Farming cooperatives may also contain pesticides.
