‘DREAM’ course taking shape
The Center for Domestic Preparedness is one step closer to launching its DREAM (Disaster Related Exposure Assessment and Monitoring) course.
Center training officials have spent the past week constructing the initial draft of the course with members of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as a number of practicing public health experts from across the U.S.
The four-day course – which will be the newest offering in the CDP library – will teach state, local, tribal and territorial organizations how to properly monitor people exposed to any number of chemical, biological and radiological substances. It will also teach agencies how to establish a surveillance program to track responders who’ve been exposed to hazardous materials.
While no date has been set, Center officials say they hope to offer the first iteration of the course in December.
