Partnerships bring wealth of information to CDP’s Tribal Nations Training Week
The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) will partner with other agencies for the 2023 Tribal Nations Training Week, scheduled for March 11-18, 2023, on the CDP campus in Anniston, Alabama.
CDP-developed courses offered that week include: Managing Public Information for All Hazards Incidents, Barrier Precautions and Controls for Highly Infectious Disease (HID), Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents (HCL) and Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents (HERT). Three of those courses – HCL, HID and HERT – will culminate in Integrated Capstone Events, also known as ICEs. ICEs promote interdisciplinary responses to mass casualty incidents and challenge responders with a series of scenarios in a day-long practical exercise.
The National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center will share its Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and Stakeholder Preparedness (THIRA), Emergency Operations Center Operations and Planning for All-Hazards Events (EOC Opns) and Understanding Targeted Cyber Attacks (UTCA).
The Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC) will offer Business Continuity Planning, which will be combined with THIRA and Active Threats on Campuses: Protective Measures and Response, from the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training.
The RDPC will also share its Community Based Response to All-Hazards Threats in Tribal Communities in conjunction with Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents, led by the National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center.
The Emergency Management Institute will offer its Emergency Management Framework for Tribal Governments.
The National Domestic Preparedness Training Center’s Social Media Tools and Techniques will be offered in conjunction with EOC Opns and other courses.

The theme of 2023 Tribal Nations Training Week -- Healing the Nations. Strong, Unified, Prepared -- was chosen by a working group comprised of responders from five tribal nations and representatives from the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, which includes the CDP, and the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium.
In addition to a week of resident courses, the CDP will also offer several Virtual Instructor-Led Training courses between March 20 and April 6. The list of those courses and associated registration information will be released at a later date.
CDP training is fully funded for state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, to include roundtrip airfare, meals and lodging.
Registration is open for Tribal Nations Training Week. To register, contact David Hall, the CDP Eastern Region and Tribal Nations Training Coordinator, at David.Hall@fema.dhs.gov or 866-213-9546.
