April offerings have seat openings

The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has seat openings in upcoming Radiological Series Train-the-Trainer (RAD TtT) and Evidence Collection in a Hazardous Materials Environment (HEC) courses.

RAD TtT, scheduled April 7-12, is a four-day course designed for individuals seeking to join a cadre of instructors and trainers who provide radiological training in their communities. The course is designed to strengthen the capacity of trainers by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and ability to deliver training to other responders. To attend the course, the student must have successfully completed Radiological Emergency Response Operations.

The April 28-May 3 iteration of HEC also has openings. HEC is a four-day course, which trains responders in hazardous evidence field screening, sampling and preservation, responsibilities of evidence collection teams, and methods for evidence packaging and documentation. Students perform advanced, practical tasks in the CDP’s Chemical, Ordnance, Biological, and Radiological (COBRA) Training Facility, which is the only facility in the United States where civilian responders train with toxic chemical agents and biological materials.

CDP training for state, local, tribal and territorial first responders is fully funded by the Department of Homeland Security, to include round-trip transportation, lodging and meals.
