CDP’s Evening Lecture Series adds value to resident training

When FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness conducted its Hurricane Theme Week in early April, the week’s Evening Lecture Series reflected the theme – Hospital Planning for Mass Casualty Incident Surges: Natural Disasters.

Each week, one of 28 topics is delivered in an hour-long optional lecture to resident students. Sometimes, the topic is an extension of the courses being conducted that week, such as Command Post Operations offered during a week when the Incident Command: Capabilities, Planning and Response Actions for All Hazards course is delivered.

Lectures are presented by CDP instructors in the center’s Responder Lodging Complex and are subject to change. Topics can range from autism awareness to measles containment and field medical tactics.

Lecture topics scheduled for the month of May are Field Medial Tactics During an Emergency Response to an Active Assailant Incident on May 4, Eyes in the Skies – Drones on May 17, and Labs: You Don’t Know What’s Behind That Door! on May 24.
