CDP’s LE Training Week to feature large-scale capstone exercise

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) will host its 2025 Law Enforcement Training Week September 7-13 on the center’s campus in Anniston, Alabama.

At the conclusion of the training, most of the classes will participate in a large Integrated Capstone Event, which will stretch across the CDP campus and test all the skills and knowledge participants have gained during the week.

Participants of one course, the CDP’s Field Force Operations Course, will learn about various protest types, actions, and legal considerations, the responsibilities of mobile field force teams, and methods for crowd-control. Instructors will train law enforcement officers through a series of hands-on activities, allowing them to practice skills in a realistic context.

The week’s other training tracks will focus on chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) response; and other aspects of public order policing, including: Law Enforcement Protective Measures for Complex Incidents, Field Force Extrication Tactics, Intermediate Hands-On Training for CBRNE Incidents: Law Enforcement, Law Enforcement Response Actions for CBRNE Incidents, and Public Order and Public Safety: Basic.

The week begins with a Law Enforcement Professional Development Day, featuring presentations and discussions regarding significant law enforcement trends and topics.

All state, local, tribal and territorial law enforcement and sworn officers are eligible to attend, with special consideration given to those in jurisdictions hosting or supporting the 2026 Super Bowl and 2026 World Cup.

Additional information on the training week, including how to apply, can be found at  https://cdp.dhs.gov/training/theme-weeks/LE-WEEK-2025.

CDP training is completely funded for state, local, tribal and territorial emergency responders to include roundtrip airfare, meals, and lodging.
