CDP assists DHS with sampling training for first responders

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is working with the Department of Homeland Security’s Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Office to create web-based Post-BioWatch Actionable Result Sampling Refresher Training.

The DHS BioWatch Program monitors for biological agents intentionally released into the air. It acts as an early warning system, enabling rapid response to reduce illnesses and deaths from a bioterrorism attack.

The one-hour distance learning course will teach responders how to conduct environmental sampling following a BioWatch Actionable Result, in accordance with established standard operating procedures.

The self-paced, web-based training will be easily accessed on a computer or compatible mobile device by responders in jurisdictions which are part of the BioWatch Program, as well as others interested in it.

Course registration will require a FEMA Student Identification Number or SID. To complete the one-time registration process for a FEMA SID, visit https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/register.
