CDP cafeteria opens following redesign

The cafeteria in the Center for Domestic Preparedness’ main building is once again serving students and instructors.

The facility shut down when on-campus training was paused in March 2020, and the center used the time which followed to renovate and significantly expand the eatery.

Construction began in April of 2020 with the former cafeteria and two former classrooms beside it taken down to the studs. The two former classrooms now comprise the dining area of the cafeteria, while meal prep, serving and dishwashing areas take up the remaining space.

Patrons will notice new tile floors and acoustic ceiling tiles throughout the facility, which at 4,200 square feet in size is about one-third larger than the old cafeteria.

Construction concluded in December, but the facility didn’t open until last week when the center reopened all its cafeterias.
