CDP conducts training exercises for Birmingham Police Department
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is supporting the Birmingham, Alabama, Police Department with training exercises this week as the city prepares to host the World Games.
CDP personnel are conducting two days of training and follow-on exercises, on Wednesday and Thursday.
During the exercises, the participants will be presented with multiple scenarios and challenges, and will need to choose the best courses of action for response. They will also need determine what support they’ll need from other emergency response agencies in the area.
Instructors from the CDP will be on hand during each of the four-hour blocks of training to evaluate and provide additional assistance.
Birmingham is scheduled to host the World Games July 7-17 and the games are expected to bring 3,600 athletes from over 100 countries to the greater Birmingham area.
