CDP continues work on HMT refresher
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is storyboarding a self-paced, web-based refresher version of its resident Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT) Course.
According to the CDP’s Curriculum team, when finalized and released, the course will potentially meet OSHA requirements for eight hours of refresher training.
The CDP’s resident HMT course spans five days and is aligned with NFPA 1072: Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications and NFPA 472 standards. Graduates of that have the opportunity to take the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board) and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) exam for HAZMAT Technician certification through the Alabama Fire College.
