CDP continues work on HMT Refresher Course
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is continuing work on a web-based refresher version of its Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT) Course.
The center’s curriculum team and hazardous materials subject matter experts are currently storyboarding an interactive scenario for the refresher course, which they hope to release by the end of the year. Additional scenarios may be added in the future.
The CDP’s resident HMT course spans five days and is aligned with NFPA 1072: Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications and NFPA 472 standards.
When the refresher course is released, it could potentially meet OSHA requirements for eight hours of refresher training.
