CDP continuing campus upgrades
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has construction ongoing in nearly all areas of its Anniston, Alabama, campus.
This week, crews began repainting the interior of the CDP’s main administrative building, Building 61. The building’s roof was replaced toward the end of 2023.
Meanwhile, at the Responder Lodging Complex, work continues on the renovation of one dorm building, including the replacement of its roof and electrical work. Once complete, there will be new carpet, bathroom fixtures, furnishings, and security controls in each room, as well as a new heating and cooling system for the building. The new heating and cooling system will allow students to adjust the temperature of their individual rooms.
The dorm renovations also include the installation of an elevator, a first in the CDP’s lodging complex. To ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, at least one room in the dorm will also be prepared to ADA standards.
The dorm renovations should be complete in late 2024.
Other ongoing projects include:
At the Noble Training Facility, work continues to replace the building’s brick façade and repave its parking lots.
The first stages of construction on a building which will serve as a reception area for responders as well as additional classrooms is underway at the CDP’s Advanced Responder Training Complex. The facility is also expected to be complete in late 2024.
At the Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological Training Facility, building changes are being made to facilitate the installation of a new backup generator. The generator will ensure the safety of students and staff in the event of a power disruption at the facility.
