CDP delivers unique virtual training to underserved communities

During the past year, FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has delivered unique virtual training to three underserved jurisdictions on the east coast.

This training, for Baldwin County, Alabama; Birmingham, Alabama; and Baltimore, Maryland, helped prepare the communities for hurricanes, an international sporting event and potential terrorist incidents, respectively.

The training included capstone exercises with mass casualty scenarios which helped improve the function of the jurisdictions’ emergency operations centers and overall disaster response capabilities.

In the weeks leading up to the exercises, responders from each location took multiple virtual instructor-led courses delivered by CDP, tailored to their specific needs.
