CDP developing advanced Health Sector Emergency Preparedness course

There will soon be an additional training opportunity at the Center for Domestic Preparedness for community health specialists and other medical professionals who work in non-hospital settings.

The CDP is transitioning its eight-hour, non-resident Health Sector Emergency Preparedness (HSEP) course to online or web-based delivery. The course introduces these specialists and professionals to emergency and disaster healthcare response procedures.

At the same time, the CDP is putting the final touches on a 16-hour HSEP II course, which will examine healthcare response procedures to emergencies and disasters more in depth and teach attendees how to develop sound healthcare response plans for their organizations. The HSEP II course, which will be designed for both web and non-resident delivery, will also include a healthcare response exercise patterned after a real-world emergency or disaster.

Completion of the basic course will be a pre-requisite for healthcare specialists to attend the HSEP II course.

CDP curriculum developers say the basic HSEP course should be transitioned to online or web-based delivery and the advanced HSEP course available for web and non-resident delivery in early 2021.
