CDP develops online Web EOC course
The Center for Domestic Preparedness will soon release a new distance learning offering which we will be a prerequisite for students to attend certain resident courses.
The Web EOC (Emergency Operations Center) distance learning offering will walk students through the basics of the system, to include its various mapping, communications, and other tools. It was developed in response to feedback from students who said they had not used Web EOC, or similar emergency management systems, prior to their time at the CDP.
While Web EOC dl will be available for any responder who wants to broaden his or her emergency management skillset, the offering will be a prerequisite for several CDP courses, such as Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents, which culminate with an Integrated Capstone Event (ICE). An ICE is a full-blown exercise at the end of a training week where students respond to one or more incidents patterned after recent real-world events.
Students will need the Web EOC dl training in order to navigate the CDP’s on-campus Web EOC portal during the ICE. The training will also teach them various commands which are useful both in and out of the classroom.
