CDP employee recipient of FEMA Administrator’s Award

Every year, the FEMA Administrator recognizes agency employees who exemplify the organization’s mission of ‘Helping people before, during, and after disasters.’

This year, the Center for Domestic Preparedness’ Physical Security Specialist, Stacy O’Leary, is among that group.

O’Leary was awarded an exceptional service award in mid-May by FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor for her work as the first operations security officer for the CDP.  In that role, she’s established a comprehensive operational security program for the center.  She’s also researched and authored the first Best Practices Standard Operating Procedures for the CDP’s security force.

According to the agency, exceptional service awards are given to employees who encourage efficiency and innovation, adhere to the highest standards of moral and ethical conduct, foster pride in public service and, excel in their occupational area.

O’Leary joined the CDP team in June of 2018.

She previously was employed as an administrative assistant at the Alabama Department of Corrections. Prior to that, she was a physical security specialist in the Navy, which included a stint at the U.S. Naval Station in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
