CDP facility passes annual compliance inspection

The Center for Domestic Preparedness’ (CDP’s) Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological Training Facility (COBRATF) recently passed its annual Chemical Agent Standard Analytical Reference Material (CASARM) audit.

A quality assurance team from the U.S. Army’s Chemical Biological Center in Maryland reviewed a number of administrative documents and operational processes of the facility during the week-long inspection, which is one of several routine examinations of the COBRATF by experts from the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and other organizations.

At its conclusion, the inspectors said they found the COBRATF to have zero ‘non-conformities’ and noted the CDP’s facility “is one of the finest they have seen within the industry.”

The CDP offers the only civilian training courses in the nation featuring chemical agents such as GB and VX and biological materials such as ricin (Ricin A Chain) and anthrax (Bacillus anthracis delta Sterne). The training increases first responders’ confidence to safely operate in environments with chemical, biological, and nuclear materials.
