CDP has openings in fall classes
The Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has seat openings in upcoming offerings of its Public Order and Public Safety: Basic (POPS-B), Evidence Collection in a Hazardous Materials Environment (HEC) and Hazardous Materials Operations (HMO) courses in November and December.
POPS-B teaches law enforcement responders about protest types and actions, legal considerations, responsibilities of public order units, and crowd control methods. The course culminates in hands-on activities that allow students to practice learned skills in a realistic context. The November iteration will also include a train-the-trainer course.
The four-day HEC course trains students in hazardous evidence preservation and sampling, field screening, evaluating physical evidence, responsibilities of evidence collection teams, and methods for evidence documentation and packaging.
HMO is a five-day course which provides responders with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to analyze, plan, and implement response actions for hazardous materials incidents. This course trains responders to National Fire Protection Association 1072: Standard for Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel Professional Qualifications.
The HEC and HMO students will perform advanced, practical tasks in the Chemical, Ordnance, Biological, and Radiological (COBRA) Training Facility, the nation's only toxic chemical-agent training facility.
