CDP has openings in upcoming resident courses
There are seats available in two upcoming resident courses at the Center for Domestic Preparedness.
Barrier Precautions and Controls for Highly Infectious Disease (HID) and Hazardous Materials Operations (HMO) have openings in classes scheduled the week of November 8-12.
The four-day HID course teaches emergency medical service, healthcare and public health professionals how to handle and treat persons with a highly infectious disease. It includes a number of realistic and challenging exercises in the isolation ward of the CDP’s Noble Training Facility – the only hospital in the country dedicated solely to training medical and healthcare professionals in disaster and mass casualty response.
HMO is a five-day course where responders learn to analyze, plan and implement response actions for hazardous materials incidents. It culminates with students performing practical tasks in the CDP’s Chemical, Ordnance, Biological and Radiological (COBRA) Training Facility – the only facility in the country where civilian responders train with hazardous biological materials and toxic chemical agents.
CDP training for state, local, tribal and territorial responders is fully funded by the Department of Homeland Security to include transportation, lodging and meals.
