CDP helps tribal nations enhance preparedness
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) will host its annual Tribal Nations Training Week from March 9-16.
Designed to enhance the preparedness of responders affiliated with tribal nations, the week will include training in multiple areas, including emergency management and healthcare preparedness and response. A complete list of planned courses and their descriptions is at https://cdp.dhs.gov/news-media/article/registration-opens-for-2024-tribal-nations-training-week.
The week will also feature an executive session for tribal leaders or their designated representatives, a closed listening session for all attendees, and workshops presented by the CDP, Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC) and the National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center.
The theme of the week -- ‘Developing Generational Resiliency Through Training’ -- was established by a working group comprised of six tribal nations responders and representatives from the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NPDC) – which includes the CDP – and the RDPC. The group identified training gaps based on recent hazard vulnerability assessments, then identified courses in the NDPC and RDPC catalogs which can help close those gaps.
The week of training is open to state, local, tribal and territorial (SLTT) responders affiliated with one or more tribal nations or the Indian Health Service, as well as SLTT responders who work directly with tribal nations. The training is fully funded, including roundtrip airfare, meals, and lodging.
