CDP holds 2026 Law Enforcement Theme Week

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness held its 2026 Law Enforcement Theme Week Sept.20-26 at the center’s Anniston, Alabama, campus.

More than 300 students from across the country participated in this weeklong training. Trainings focused on public order/public safety; chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosive (CBRNE) incident response; and active threat response.

Training culminated in a large-scale hands-on exercise involving all students applying their newly acquired skills to resolve simulated scenarios involving an active shooter, protests, a CBRNE incident and terrorist threats in realistic training environments. The Oxford, Alabama, Police Department assisted with drone surveillance during the Capstone Event.

FEMA’s Senior Law Enforcement Advisor Perry Tarrant attended the event and provided closing remarks.

The National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education at Louisiana State University, National Center for Integrated Emergency Response, Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Office for Bombing Prevention, New Mexico Tech, and the Office of Law Enforcement Engagement and Integration partnered with the CDP for this week of instruction.

CDP training is completely funded for state, local, tribal and territorial emergency responders to include roundtrip airfare, meals, lodging, tuition and any equipment required during training. For additional information about the CDP or to view training opportunities, visit https://cdp.dhs.gov.
