CDP holds virtual exercise for Baltimore PD

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness conducted an Emergency Operations Center – Virtual exercise today for the Baltimore, Maryland, Police Department.

The exercise was the capstone event of virtual training taken earlier in the month by approximately 20 members of the organization.

BPD officers participated in 16 Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) courses hosted by the CDP relating to terrorism, explosive devices, hazardous materials, demonstrations and other law enforcement topics. Four of the courses were delivered by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Office for Bombing Prevention, with whom the CDP has a training partnership.

In today’s event, the BPD officers had to manage an Emergency Operations Center following the mock release of a dirty bomb.

The exercise was virtually controlled by CDP instructors on the center’s campus in Anniston, Alabama, and observed in-person by CDP instructors in Baltimore.
