CDP hosts 2024 National Preparedness Symposium

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) is hosting the 2024 National Preparedness Symposium this week on its campus in Anniston, Alabama.

Themed “Collaborative Preparedness and Resilience: Bridging gaps across jurisdictional boundaries,” the annual event is being attended by more than 200 emergency management professionals from across the country who are eyeing ways to enhance the preparedness and resilience of the regions, states, and communities they serve.

Among topics of the discussion, attendees will explore the concept of a “whole of community” approach to climate resilience, recognizing the importance of involving all stakeholders in addressing climate-related challenges.

The attendees will also examine the role of AI in emergency response – highlighting both the potential benefits and challenges associated with utilizing artificial intelligence in the field – and look at the Maui wildfire recovery efforts – focusing on the lessons learned from that disaster.

The symposium kicked off earlier today. It runs through Thursday.
