CDP hosts inaugural Law Enforcement Training Week
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) hosted its inaugural Law Enforcement Training Week Sept. 8-12 on its campus in Anniston, Alabama. The event brought together more than 160 law enforcement officers from across the nation to enhance their preparedness and response capabilities.
The week began with a Professional Development Day featuring presentations from FEMA, the Drug Enforcement Administration, DHS Customs and Border Protection, Virginia State Police and others on topics such as nation-state threats, fentanyl hazards, drone exploitation, intelligence fusion centers and crowd control methods.
Responders then engaged in specialized training tracks, including Field Force Operations, Field Force Extrication Tactics, Public Order Public Safety-Basic, and CBRNE training for Law Enforcement.
The training week culminated in a hands-on exercise involving all students applying their newly acquired skills to successfully resolve simulated scenarios involving protests, CBRNE incidents and terrorist threats in realistic training environments.
Law Enforcement Training Week highlights the critical role law enforcement performs in safeguarding communities and reflects the CDP’s commitment to enhancing operational effectiveness, resilience, and readiness among law enforcement professionals. That commitment aligns with the April 2025 Presidential Executive Order on “Strengthening and Unleashing America’s Law Enforcement to Pursue Criminals and Protect Innocent Civilians”.
The CDP plans to present this event annually and is planning to host the next Law Enforcement Training Week in March of 2026. Those interested in participating should watch the CDP’s social media accounts and website at www.cdp.dhs.gov.
