CDP hosts law enforcement working group
A nation-wide working group of federal and civilian law enforcement officers is meeting at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) this week to review curriculum for a new Public Order and Safety Course developed by the Federal Protective Service (FPS) and taught at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia.
The FPS delivered a pilot of the course, which focuses on police activities associated with routine community and large-scale regional and national events, in December.
Some of the material used in the course was drawn from several similar CDP courses. Consequently, CDP curriculum developers and training specialists are among those contributing to the review.
Officials from the CDP and other participating agencies hope the working group will lead to additional collaboration and integration amongst their course developers and trainers. They also hope it will ensure consistency, across the Department of Homeland Security, in federally-delivered law enforcement training.
