CDP kicks off second ‘DREAM’ course
The DREAM course will teach students how to properly monitor people exposed to any number of hazardous substances.
The Center for Domestic Preparedness kicked off the second pilot of its new Disaster Related Exposure Assessment and Monitoring or DREAM course February 10.
The pilot, with a class of 20 students, will run through February 13.
The DREAM course will teach state, local, tribal and territorial organizations how to properly monitor people exposed to any number of chemical, biological and radiological substances. It will also teach agencies how to establish a surveillance program to track responders who have been exposed to hazardous materials.
The course was in development for most of 2019, with members of the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry helping shape the curriculum.
The first pilot of the course was conducted in December.
The first regular DREAM course will be offered sometime in the spring.
