CDP Law Enforcement Theme Week includes hazardous materials response

The Center for Domestic Preparedness will train law enforcement officers to respond to a variety of incidents, including those in hazardous environments, during its Law Enforcement Theme Week, September 20-26 at the center’s Anniston, Alabama, campus.

Law Enforcement Protective Measures for Complex Incidents provides law enforcement officers with the information and skills required to safely perform law enforcement roles during an active threat situation involving hazardous materials. During the week this course is paired with Mass Fatalities Planning & Response for Rural Communities, Law Enforcement Response Actions for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, or Explosive (CBRNE)  Incidents, and Intermediate Hands-On Training for CBRNE Incidents: Law Enforcement, which includes practical exercises in the CDP’s  Chemical, Ordnance, Biological, and Radiological Training Facility, the only facility in the nation featuring civilian training exercises utilizing toxic chemical agents and biological materials.

The training week will culminate in a hands-on exercise involving all students applying their newly acquired skills to resolve simulated scenarios involving protests, CBRNE incidents and terrorist threats in realistic training environments.

CDP training is completely funded for state, local, tribal and territorial emergency responders to include roundtrip airfare, meals, lodging, tuition and any equipment required during training.
