CDP moves online lecture webinars to ‘virtual instructor-led training’ format
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness has converted all of its Online Lecture Series (OLS) webinars to the Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) format.
Webinars in the VILT format provide students an interactive training experience plus certificates upon completion of the training. OLS webinars were previously live or pre-recorded one-way presentations, and students did not receive certificates for attending them.
The CDP currently has 11 Online Lecture Series webinars scheduled in September. They span a wide range of topics, from ‘Elastomeric Reusable Respirators: A Solution to PPE Shortages’ and ‘Hazmat and Decontamination During Storm Response - How it affects us all’ to ‘Hospital Planning for Mass Casualty Incident Surges: Natural Disasters’ and ‘Field Medical Tactics during an Emergency Response to an Active Assailant Incident.’
Responders can participate in the training from work, home, or any other location using a computer or mobile device capable of running Adobe Connect. A phone (landline or cellular) will be needed to call into a phone bridge. Participation via both the virtual classroom and the phone bridge is required in order to receive a certificate of completion.
To register for a webinar, visit https://cdp.dhs.gov/vilt, select your desired presentation from the list, and click apply. Two business days prior to training, you will receive an email with additional information about the webinar along with the link to the on-line virtual classroom, login instructions, and the phone bridge number and pin.
