CDP offers hazmat awareness distance learning course

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) offers responders a wide variety of self-paced, web-based training courses which can be accessed anywhere, through a computer or mobile device.

Among the offerings is the Hazardous Materials Awareness Distant Learning Course, which provides students with awareness-level hazardous materials competencies, as defined by NFPA 1072 and NFPA 472. The eight-hour course uses the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Response Guidebook to identify hazardous materials risks and protective actions.

Responders interested in the training can learn more by visiting https://cdp.dhs.gov/training/course/AWR-358%20dL.

Course registration requires a FEMA Student Identification Number or SID. To complete the one-time registration process for a SID, visit https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/register.
