CDP provides emergency management training through distance learning
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness offers responders a library of self-paced, web-based, training offerings which can be accessed anywhere, through a computer or mobile device.
Among the offerings is the Health Sector Emergency Preparedness Distance Learning Course (HSEP), which provides a general overview of emergency planning and preparedness, including development of policies and procedures and the creation of communication plans and training exercises. The independent study course takes about eight hours to complete.
HSEP is geared at health care providers and suppliers and can help them adhere to a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services rule, issued in 2016, requiring them to establish and maintain an emergency operation plan and conduct associated employee training to apply for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
Responders interested in the training can learn more by visiting https://cdp.dhs.gov/training/course/AWR-336-W.
Course registration requires a FEMA Student Identification Number or SID. To complete the one-time registration process for a SID, visit https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/register.
