CDP providing training to future environmental health leaders
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), this week, is providing its Environmental Health Training in Emergency Response Operations (EHTER OPS) Course to environmental health professionals in the National Environmental Health Association’s (NEHA) Leadership Academy Program.
EHTER Ops is a five-day course which teaches responders about environmental health protocols and equipment for disaster response. It includes training on assessing environmental problems and risks, planning a team response to an incident, and performing associated reporting and follow-up activities.
The NEHA Leadership Program is a year-long virtual program which provides future state, local, tribal, and territorial environmental health leaders training in management, emergency management and community partnerships. The program is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to build leadership within the environmental health workforce.
Much of the NEHA Leadership Program’s curriculum is disseminated virtually, so the CDP’s resident EHTER Ops Course not only gives participants an opportunity to learn in a hands-on environment, but also a chance to interact in person.
