CDP readies release of HMO refresher course
The Center for Domestic Preparedness has completed a much-anticipated web-based refresher version of its resident Hazardous Materials Operations (HMO) Course.
The resident HMO course is a five-day operations-level class which teaches responders to analyze, plan and implement response actions for hazardous materials incidents. The course meets OSHA hazmat operations certification standards and is a pre-requisite for those seeking certification through the Alabama Fire College.
To maintain OSHA certification, responders must take eight hours of refresher training annually. The new Hazardous Materials Operations Refresher (HMO-R) distance learning course has the potential to meet that requirement in a self-paced, web-based format.
The self-paced design of the training will automatically save a responder’s progress in the course for up to one month. This enables students to learn at their own pace.
HMO-R is expected to be placed online within the next month.
