CDP releases April resident training numbers

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has released the number of course completions recorded in April by those who trained on its campus in Anniston, Alabama.

The CDP recorded 1,232 course completions in 37 resident course deliveries, including the CDP’s Advanced Radiological Incident Operations, Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents, Hazardous Materials Operations, Field Force Operations and Healthcare Emergency Response Operations for CBRNE Incidents courses.

The numbers also include those in the CDP’s Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents and Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents courses who participated in Integrated Capstone Events, or ICEs. An ICE is a comprehensive exercise at the end of a training week where students from multiple courses and disciplines work together to respond to simulated incidents patterned after real-world events.

Courses provided to nursing students at five universities were also part of the resident training totals for the month.

“The instructors had a wealth of knowledge and experience. That is so important because modern tactics evolve from lessons learned by those who have done it,” said one graduate.

CDP training is provided free of charge to state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, including round-trip transportation, meals and lodging.
