CDP releases February resident training numbers
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has released the number of course completions recorded in February from those who trained on its campus in Anniston, Alabama.
The CDP recorded 889 course completions in 30 resident course deliveries, including the CDP’s Advanced Radiological Incident Operations, Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents (HERT), Hazardous Materials Technician and Field Force Extrication Tactics (FFE) courses.
Four classes – Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents, HERT, Field Force Operations (FFO) and FFE – also participated in Integrated Capstone Events, or ICEs. An ICE is a comprehensive exercise at the end of a training week where students from multiple courses and disciplines work together to respond to simulated incidents patterned after real-world events.
“The ICE was amazing. If my community experiences a serious incident, I’m confident I’ll be able to significantly contribute to the response,” said one graduate.
CDP training is provided free of charge to state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, including round-trip transportation, meals and lodging.
