CDP releases January resident training numbers

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has released the number of course completions recorded in January from those who trained on its campus in Anniston, Alabama.

The CDP recorded a total of 654 course completions in 21 resident course deliveries, including the CDP’s Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents; Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents; Incident Command: Capabilities, Planning and Response Actions for All Hazards; Hazardous Materials Technologies: Sampling, Monitoring, and Detection; Hazardous Materials Operations; Field Force Extrication Tactics (FFE); and Field Force Operations courses.

“This class (FFE) must be taught in person. Hands-on was vital to my confidence in what I was able to learn,” said one graduate.

There were also two Integrated Capstone Events, or ICEs. An ICE is a comprehensive exercise at the end of a training week where students from multiple courses and disciplines work together to respond to simulated incidents patterned after real-world events.

“The ICE exercise had great role players,” and because of the training, “I felt very prepared,” said one participant.

CDP training is provided free of charge to state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, including round-trip transportation, meals and lodging.
