CDP releases March resident training numbers
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has released the number of course completions recorded in March by those who trained on its campus in Anniston, Alabama.
The CDP recorded 2,032 course completions in 63 resident course deliveries, including the CDP’s Environmental Health Training in Emergency Response Operations, Radiological Emergency Response Operations, Framework for Healthcare Emergency Management, Managing Public Information for All Hazards Incidents, Hazardous Materials Technician and Field Force Extrication Tactics courses.
Nine classes – including iterations of the CDP’s Barrier Precautions and Controls for Highly Infectious Disease, Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents and Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents courses – also participated in Integrated Capstone Events, or ICEs. An ICE is a comprehensive exercise at the end of a training week where students from multiple courses and disciplines work together to respond to simulated incidents patterned after real-world events.
“I have met so many people who I will stay in contact with to use as resources to better my program and my own knowledge,” said one graduate.
Courses provided to nursing students at three universities and during the 8th annual Tribal Nations Training Week were also part of the CDP’s resident training totals for March.
“Tribal Nations are stronger today because of the dedicated men and women of the CDP,” said one responder who attended Tribal Nations Training Week.
CDP training is provided free of charge to state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, including round-trip transportation, meals and lodging.
