CDP releases May resident training numbers

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) has released the number of course completions recorded in May by those who trained on its campus in Anniston, Alabama.

The CDP recorded 982 course completions in 27 resident course deliveries, including the CDP’s Field Force Operations; Hazardous Materials Technician; Hazardous Materials Technologies: Sampling, Monitoring, and Detection (HT); Incident Command: Capabilities, Planning and Response Actions for All Hazards; Respiratory Protection: Program Development and Administration; and Framework for Healthcare Emergency Management courses.

The numbers also include those in the CDP’s Healthcare Leadership for Mass Casualty Incidents and Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents courses who participated in Integrated Capstone Events, or ICEs. An ICE is a comprehensive exercise at the end of a training week where students from multiple courses and disciplines work together to respond to simulated incidents patterned after real-world events.

“The training I got this week went beyond what I thought I was going to learn. I am going to highly recommend my coworkers take this course,” said a HT graduate.

CDP training is provided free of charge to state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders, including round-trip transportation, meals and lodging.
