CDP releases non-resident, indirect training numbers for January
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) this week released its non-resident and indirect training numbers for January.
The CDP conducted 19 non-resident courses for 429 responders and 37 indirect courses for 511 responders during the month, the release said.
Non-resident courses are delivered by contract CDP instructors at locations across the United States. Indirect courses are delivered by volunteer responders to others in their organization, community, or both. The volunteer responders must be graduates of the courses they instruct as well as that course’s associated train-the-trainer course.
Non-resident training during January consisted of the CDP’s Law Enforcement Protective Measures for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Incidents and other training provided to New York City Police Department recruits in Breezy Point, New York, and Los Angeles Police Department recruits in Granada Hills, California.
Indirect training during January consisted of the CDP’s Hazardous Materials Awareness and Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents courses delivered to firefighters, medical specialists and law enforcement officers in several locations, including Norwich, Connecticut; West Palm Beach, Florida; Rockwall, Texas; Leoti, Kansas; Fargo, North Dakota; Mount Pleasant, Iowa; and San Francisco, California.
Since opening in 1998, the CDP has trained more than 1.3 million responders. That number includes responders trained online; on the CDP’s campus in Anniston, Alabama; and at locations across the United States and its territories.
