CDP releases non-resident, indirect training numbers for July

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness has released its non-resident and indirect training numbers for July.

The CDP conducted 27 non-resident courses for 485 responders and 41 indirect courses for 418 responders during the month, it said.

Non-resident courses are delivered by contract CDP instructors at locations across the United States. Indirect courses are delivered by volunteer responders to others in their organization, community, or both. The volunteer responders must be graduates of the courses they instruct as well as that course’s associated train-the-trainer course.

The non-resident training included the CDP’s Law Enforcement Response Actions for CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives) Incidents and refresher training courses delivered to police academy recruits in Breezy Point, New York, and Los Angeles, California.

The indirect training included the CDP’s Hazardous Materials Awareness (HMA), Hospital Emergency Response Training for CBRNE Incidents (HERT) and Law Enforcement Response Actions for CBRNE Incidents (LERA) courses delivered to medical specialists, firefighters and police officers in Brooklyn, Clifton Springs and New Hyde, New York; Safety Harbor, Florida; Muskegon, Michigan; Austin, Dallas and Houston, Texas; Grand Forks and Hillsboro, North Dakota; Imperial, Nebraska; Phoenix, Arizona; and Waipahu, Hawaii.

Since opening in 1998, the CDP has trained more than 1.3 million responders. That number includes responders trained online; on the CDP’s campus in Anniston, Alabama; and at locations across the United States and its territories.
