CDP releases non-resident, indirect training numbers for March

FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) this week released its non-resident and indirect training numbers for March.

The CDP conducted 60 non-resident courses for 1,863 responders and 81 indirect courses for 1,808 responders during the month, the release said.

Non-resident courses are delivered by contract CDP instructors at locations across the United States. Indirect courses are delivered by volunteer responders to others in their organization, community, or both. The volunteer responders must be graduates of the courses they instruct as well as that course’s associated train-the-trainer course.

Non-resident training during March consisted primarily of the center’s Field Force Operations Course being delivered to members of law enforcement organizations in Flushing, New York; Charlotte and Salemburg, North Carolina; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and Austin, Texas.

Indirect training during March included the CDP’s Hospital Emergency Response Training for CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives) Incidents; Integrating Communications, Assessment, and Tactics; and Law Enforcement Response Actions for CBRNE Incidents courses delivered to medical specialists and law enforcement officers in Jersey City, New Jersey; West Chester, Pennsylvania; Baltimore, Maryland; Lutz, Florida; Dearborn, Michigan; Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, Louisiana; Dallas and Plano, Texas; Chanute and Quinter, Kansas; St. Cloud, Minnesota; Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; San Francisco, California; and Kahului, Hawaii.

Since opening in 1998, the CDP has trained more than 1.3 million responders. That number includes responders trained online; on the CDP’s campus in Anniston, Alabama; and at locations across the United States and its territories.
